RETAIL ACCOUNTANT (BILINGUAL)

SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Manager, Simply Pharmacy/Murale Accounting, the incumbent is responsible for providing accounting services to a set of Shoppers Simply Pharmacy and Murale stores. The incumbent is also responsible in communicating and coordinating the inventory schedules to SDM/Pharmaprix/Simply Pharmacy/Murale stores.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completes Sales, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and other required journal entries for assigned stores.
• Communicates inventory schedules to SDM/Pharmaprix/SimplyPharmacy/Murale stores and coordinates special scheduling requests.
• Prepares accurate bi-weekly Payroll in Powerpay and ensures timely submission.
• Prepares period end and quarterly package reports ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Reviews sales, margin, count, analysis and reporting processes to identify and implement process improvements and increase efficiencies.
• Reconciles and analyzes Weekly Invoice Statements on a weekly basis.
• Coordinates with Retail Accountants and store contacts on Physical Inventory preparation.
• Coordinates with Retail Accountants on Bank Reconciliation issues.
• Creates necessary financial models to ensure accurate ad hoc reporting and to provide recommendations.
• Performs and reviews complex period end GL reconciliations reporting to ensure accuracy and quality of reports.
• Responds to telephone and email inquiries to provide advice and resolution of accounting issues or concerns as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

• Post secondary education in Business, Accounting, and Finance. Mid point completion of CGA or CMA would be an asset.
• At least three years, finance, accounting, business or equivalent experience
• Requires an understanding of inter-related work processes to be able to adapt to differing assignments.
• Provides routine information to coordinate the assignments and work procedures of others.
• Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with colleagues including senior management.
• Draws on a number of known options to solve problems and to develop improvements.
• Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
• Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone.
• Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proof-reading is required
• Computer skills to produce reports, documents and presentations. Knowledge several software packages.
• Business acumen - knowledge of accounting guidelines, principles and procedures.
