Field Service Technician (Maintenance / Calibration)
- permanent - up to $25/hr dep. on exper. + OT
* Position requires on-site and some overnight travel....coverage area: province of Quebec
* Most travel (80-90% would be same day)
* Position requires use of own vehicle, where there would be a per kilometre expense reimbursement ($0.52/km for first 5000km.....$0.46/km thereafter)
* Use of own hand tools / digital volt meter would be an asset ; if candidate does not have, company would provide / purchase but item(s) would remain company property in this case
* 37 hour work week with overtime paid after 40 hours
Overview:
* Provide high level technical support to both internal and external customers
* Work with minimal supervision to troubleshoot and repair instruments both on-site and in-office
* Provide start-up / commissioning on-site, field validation and calibration of instruments as part of maintenance contracts
* Provide training on-site or in office for both internal and external customers
* Participation in 24/7 Help Desk on call rotation
* Work closely with customer and office to keep all parties informed about the status of day-to-day field service activities, open issues, and corrective actions
Job Qualifications:
· Instrumentation Engineering Technologist or Journeyman Instrument Mechanic or related education / training / experience
· 3 yrs+ experience in calibration of process instrumentation field service and system integration
· Fluency in both English and French (reading / writing / speaking)
* Computer competency: Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, and other project tools
· Experience in instrumentation, process control, calibration, field service, commissioning and start-up
· Experience with DCS, PLCs (A/B, other), HMI an asset
· Strong time management, attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
· Effective communicator, facilitator and problem solver.
· Excellent attendance and dependability in previous position
* Problem solving and troubleshooting ability
* Flexible to travel with less than 24 hours notice
* Flexible to work overtime up to a maximum of 16 hours per day (i.e 7.25 reg. hours + 8.75 extra IF necessary)
Job Duties:
* Calibration of process instrumentation in various industrial environments
* Able to work alone or as part of field service team, company project team, or with contractors
* Provide high level technical support to external customers at their location
* Able to support all company and third party products
* Interface with cross functional work teams such as sales, services, product management
* Act in a timely and professional manner in handling of field service calls and issues arising from the field service visit
* Works in compliance with workplace health and safety guidelines
* Timely completion and submission of all paperwork per company guidelines
* Maintain continuous communication with the customer to ensure satisfaction and implement any necessary corrective actions
* Generation of sales opportunities
* Performs related functions as required.
